Retaining Wall Calculator
Calculate materials needed for your retaining wall project including blocks, gravel, and estimated costs.
How to Use the Retaining Wall Calculator
Input Measurements
Enter your wall's width and height in feet. For accuracy, include any below-grade portion in the height measurement. Most retaining walls require about 10% of their height to be below ground for stability.
Block Dimensions
Input the width and height of your chosen blocks in inches. If using a pattern with multiple block sizes, enter the total width of one complete pattern. Standard retaining wall blocks are typically 16" wide and 6" high.
Material Considerations
The calculator includes a 10% overage for blocks and estimates both base gravel (6" deep) and backfill gravel (12" behind wall). Consider adding landscape fabric between the gravel backfill and soil for better drainage.
