Parallelogram Area Calculator

Calculate the area of a parallelogram using base and height, sides and angle, or diagonals.

base (b) height (h)

Area = 24.00 square units

Understanding Parallelogram Area Calculation

A parallelogram is a quadrilateral with opposite sides parallel to each other. There are three main methods to calculate its area:

1. Base and Height Method

The simplest formula: Area = base × height

This method requires measuring the perpendicular height, not the slant height of the parallelogram.

2. Sides and Angle Method

Formula: Area = a × b × sin(α)

Where a and b are adjacent sides, and α is the angle between them.

3. Diagonals Method

Formula: Area = ½ × d₁ × d₂ × sin(θ)

Where d₁ and d₂ are the diagonals, and θ is the angle between them.
