TDEE & BMR Calculator (Mifflin-St Jeor)
Calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) using the scientifically validated Mifflin-St Jeor equation.
Understanding BMR & TDEE
What is BMR?
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) represents the minimum number of calories your body needs to perform basic life-sustaining functions while at rest. This includes breathing, blood circulation, cell production, and maintaining body temperature.
What is TDEE?
Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is the total number of calories you burn throughout the day, including your BMR plus additional calories burned through physical activity, exercise, and digestion (thermic effect of food).
The Mifflin-St Jeor Equation
This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, which is considered one of the most accurate formulas for calculating BMR. Published in 1990, it's been validated by multiple studies and is recommended by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
