Understanding the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT)
The ACFT is the U.S. Army's primary physical fitness evaluation method, designed to better connect fitness with combat readiness. Implemented in 2020, it represents a significant evolution from the previous Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT).
Key Components of the ACFT
The test consists of six events that measure different aspects of physical fitness:
- Maximum Deadlift (MDL): Tests muscular strength
- Standing Power Throw (SPT): Measures explosive power
- Hand Release Push-Up (HRP): Assesses upper body endurance
- Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC): Tests anaerobic capacity and agility
- Plank Hold (PLK): Measures core endurance
- 2-Mile Run (2MR): Evaluates aerobic endurance
